About Lake Bohinj
Bohinj Lake, compressed into glacial valley between Vogel and Pršivec is our deepest and largest permanent natural lake with an area of 318 ha. Its maximum depth is 44.5m, length is 4.1km and 1.2 km wide. Glaciers are hollow lake surrounded by wreathsmorainic material, which is breaking through the main tributary Savica which has awaterfall and rest a little effort erosion in the lake basin. Bohinj Lake is the most filled with water during the May melt the snow, February is the lowest water situation.
The lake is relatively cold, because the mean annual surface water temperature 8.5degrees C, mean in July is 17 degrees C. The temperature at the bottom of the lake is between 4-7 degrees C. Summer is warmer riparian water suitable for swimming.
In the lake living five species of fish: lake trout, burbot, chub, minnow and lake trout.
